National Geographic

"We believe in the power of science, exploration, education, and storytelling to change the world."  NGS

So do I, and I am very grateful for the support of the National Geographic Global Exploration Fund and the good people of the National Geographic Society whose enthusiasm for both adventure and science knows no bounds.

I am very grateful for the friendship of Earth Ark and Uncharted Africa Safaris whose support for our scientific research and exploration has been unwavering over my many years in Botswana.

The Leverhulme Trust award funding across academic disciplines with the aim of funding original research that advances knowledge of our world and ourselves.  A great deal of my research benefits from grants from the Trust.

The International Union for Quaternary Science (INQUA) exists to encourage and facilitate the research of Quaternary scientists in all disciplines.  It provides valuable support to early career and developing country scientists.  I have been fortunate enough to both be part of its Executive Committee and to have benefited from the support offered to foster international collaborations (not at the same time!)

The Trapnell Fund

Colin Trapnell OBE (1907 - 2004) is widely regarded as one of the earliest practitioners of ecology in the African continent, and one of the fathers of a generation of subsequent conservation ecologists,  The Trapnell fund, together with contributions from the Higgins - Trapnell Family Foundation established the Trapnell Fellowship in African Terrestrial Ecology to support ongoing research in African Terrestrial Ecology at the Environmental Change Institute at Oxford University.  I currently have the privilege of holding this post and am extremely grateful to the Trapnell fund and the ECI for their continued support.

Working in a salt pan isn't easy. The expertise of Botash has proved invaluable for us to operate in the mud and salt of Makgadikgadi and we hugely appreciate their help.
